Keys to a liberal account of History. The opposite of historical "memory."
Keys for an interpretation of the Spanish political situation.
PRESENTATION
I was born in Vitoria in 1951 and in 1953 my family moved to San Sebastián where I completed my studies. In 1970 I landed at the Complutense University of Madrid.
I am interested in history and politics. I believe that Politics is the most important (temporary) dedication for a society, as long as it is done with high vision and with the objective of a project of freedom subject to the law, representation and control of the voters.
I have been a "politician" for five years against Franco's regime for freedoms, between 1970 and 1975.
Graduated in law and history, after working three years at the Bank of Vizcaya, in 1978, I won a professorship at the Institute of Geography and History by competitive examination. I really enjoyed teaching classes in Las Palmas, Vélez Málaga and in Madrid.
Shortly after, I obtained a Fulbright scholarship, with which I expanded my studies on the History of Europe at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. He brought knowledge from Madrid; At the University of California, La Jolla, I understood the secret of American university excellence and there I became a professional historian.
After a period of fifteen years in which I worked in banking, secondary education and university, I returned to political activity in 1990 and was a deputy in three legislatures, until my resignation in 2001; Immediately afterwards, I returned to my position as a history professor at the University. The Caesarism and the mania of appointing the former presidents of the PP to the new presidents ended up convincing me that it (this) would not end well.
The transfer, totally free, of the Moncloa from Rajoy to Pedro Sánchez and a Motion of Censorship attended to in the seat by the Vice President's purse, exceeded my worst "perfect storm" forecasts of June 2015.
I have dedicated a good part of my recent work to criticizing the partitocratic drift that, in my opinion, is the basis of the Spanish political crisis. To expand and share these points of view I am developing this personal website.
